Foundation donates Mimio Smartboards to Medlock Bridge Elementary School
The Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation is proud to announce the donation of twenty Mimio interactive boards for the kindergarten, first and second grade classrooms at Medlock Bridge Elementary School. The purchase caps a two year push to bring the latest technology to the north Fulton school, having donated seventeen Mimio interactive boards for the third, fourth, and fifth grades in the 2010/2011 school year. The Foundation successfully raised the twenty-two thousand dollars needed for the purchase by a large sponsorship drive and fall fundraising season including a silent auction and holiday bazaar as well as direct donations from corporate sponsors and parents.
“The Foundation's success rests solely on the shoulders of the volunteers who give so generously of their time, and to area businesses who never cease to amaze me with their support of our school,” says Lisa Beckett, the Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation President. Adds Current VP of Sponsorship and former Foundation President Keri Michaelis, “Over the last several years, we have had an overwhelming response from parents and community businesses to our plea for capital improvements, which our school budgets would not otherwise allow.”
The Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation was created in 2007 in response to continuing funding cuts from the State and County level in order to continue to make capital improvements for the school. Since 2007, the Foundation has raised over one hundred and five thousand dollars. “We are so pleased at Medlock Bridge to have the support of our Foundation. The Foundation supports all facets of our school community by working in partnership with our schools' PTA and community business leaders to meet the ongoing needs of the school, “ said Medlock Bridge Elementary School Principal Margaret Pupillo. Making a distinction between the Foundation and the school's PTA, Mrs. Pupillo added, “Our PTA continues to be extremely successful with their support, both in regard to volunteer service and funding of numerous instructional programs. However, the Foundation serves to fill material needs that our PTA cannot due to national bylaws.”
The Mimio interactive boards will be shipped to the Medlock Bridge school early in 2012. A teacher training session is scheduled in January.
